The Elections in Norway - if, how and where you can vote in Surnadal

valgurneAre you a Norwegian or foreign national and unsure whether you can vote at this year's municipal and county council elections? See what rules apply to you.

Both Norwegian and foreign nationals have a right to vote in municipal and county council elections in Norway, but the eligibility requirements depend on your citizenship.

If you are a Norwegian citizen, you can vote if you:

  • Are over 18 years old, or turn 18 in 2019
  • Are, or have been, registered as residing in Norway in the last 10 years before election day

If you have not been registered as resident in Norway for the last 10 years, you must apply for inclusion in the elctoral register. Read more here.

If you are a Nordic (Swedish, Danish, Finnish or Icelandic) citizen, you can vote if you:

  • Are over 18 years old, or turn 18 in 2019
  • Have been registered as residing in Norway since 30 June 2019

If you are a foreign national from a country outside the Nordics, you can vote if you:

  • Are over 18 years old, or turn 18 in 2019
  • Have been registered as residing continuously in Norway for the last three years before election day

Central Surnadal voting area: Surnadal Kulturhus at Skei

Sunday September 8th:  14.00 – 19.00

Monday September 9th: -10.00 – 20.00

Locations for voting on Monday September 9th: 12.00 – 20.00:

Mo voting area: Mo school

Bæverfjord voting area: Bæverfjord school

Bøfjorden voting area: Bøfjorden grendahus

Stangvik voting area: Stangvik school

Todalen voting area: Todalen school
